The Maler-Becker-Schule ( MSG for short ) is a primary school founded in 1882 in the Mainz district of Gonsenheim . The students are taught five times in 20 classes. The city of Mainz is responsible for the educational institution. The school was named after Joseph Ferdinand Becker , a 19th century genre, church and fairytale painter from Gonsenheim .

Educational concept

The Maler-Becker School is a focus school; their integrative concept forms the basis for children with and without disabilities to live and learn together in school. For this reason, special school teachers and pedagogical specialists also belong to the teaching staff. Open forms of learning and work are an integral part of everyday teaching, for example in the form of working groups or regular project days. The organization of learning takes place for the students in the form of daily and weekly plans, which can be worked through according to the individual degree of difficulty and at your own learning pace. As part of the integrated foreign language work, all children of the Maler-Becker School have been introduced to English and French since the beginning of the 2005/2006 school year.

history

In 1882 the "New School", today's central building of the Maler-Becker School, was built in the form of a large, historic clinker brick building. The steadily growing number of students was met in 1895 with the expansion of the building complex to include a new school building along the Maler-Becker-Straße. The architect was Jacob Secker . Further structural additions were made in 1907 by the architect, community builder Schwarz, in the form of a three-storey hipped roof building, which was expanded in 1930. The building ensemble is now a listed building .
