The Malheur Lake is a lake in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Harney County of the US state of Oregon .

The lake, located about 28.96 km southeast of Burns , is fed with water from the Donner and Blitzen Rivers and Silvies Rivers . The water leaves the lake via Mud Lake. It has an area of ​​182 km², which corresponds to an approximate length of 30 km and a width of about 19 km. Malheur Lake is a relatively shallow lake as the maximum depth is 1.52 m and the mean depth is 0.60 m. The catchment area is 7,984.93 km². The lake is at an altitude of 1247.54  m . The two islands in the lake are Cole Island and Pelican Island.

The western area of ​​Malheur Lake consists of ponds , which are separated by small islands and peninsulas . The central and eastern sections of the lake are more open. The generally shallow water is a suitable habitat for migratory birds , water birds and aquatic plants .
