The district Malir is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Sindh . The district forms part of the city of Karachi .
The district has an area of 2268 km² and according to the 2017 census 2,008,901 inhabitants. The population density is 886 inhabitants / km².
location
The district is located in the south of Sindh Province, which is located in southeastern Pakistan. It corresponds to the north-western catchment area of the mega city of Karachi. The Karachi / Jinnah International Airport is located in Malir .
history
In 2000 the district was abolished and Karachi became a single district of Sindh. On July 11, 2011, the Sindh government restored the Malir district.
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 3.86% annually. Around 57% of the population live in urban regions and around 43% in rural regions. There are 1,074,282 men, 934,491 women and 128 transgender people living in 338,257 households , which results in a gender ratio of 115 men per 100 women and thus a frequent surplus of men for Pakistan.
