Malta Song for Europe 1992 (abbreviation: MSFE 1992 ) was the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 , which took place in Malmö ( Sweden ) after Carola won the Eurovision Song Contest the previous year with her song Fångad av en stormvind . The competition was won by Mary Spiteri with the song Little Child . The competition was also known as Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija għall-Ewropa 1992 .
principle
A total of 20 entries were selected by an expert jury to take part in the semi-finals, which took place on March 12 and 13, 1992 in the Mediterranean Conference Center . The songs were performed in Maltese on March 12th and in English on March 13th. With 100% of the votes, the jury chose the 10 finalists who entered on March 14th to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest.
All songs were performed in both English and Maltese in the semi-finals and in the final , but the English version of the winning title was chosen to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. Before 1999, singing in English was only allowed in participating countries that had English as their official language, including Malta.
