Fångad av en stormvind was written by the Swedish composer Stephan Berg and published in 1991. In 1991 the singer Carola Häggkvist won the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song . A version in English was also published under the name Captured by a Lovestorm .

She represented the country as early as 1983 with the song Främling . At that time, she was third.

At the Eurovision Song Contest

Carola appeared with the song on May 4, 1991 at the Concorso Eurovisione della Canzone and won the competition with starting number 8 and 146 points. After submitting all ratings, Sweden was tied with Amina's French contribution C'est le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison in first place; in terms of the number of maximum ratings, both were on par. Frank Naef, the referee of the show from the European Broadcasting Union , ruled that Carola was the winner due to the higher number of 10-point ratings.
