As the artist couple "kroko", Manfred Kroboth and Jutta Konjer staged themselves together with their dog Nike in bizarre poses in front of public monuments. With these actions, which were documented photographically, they turned the pathos formulas of the monuments and dealt playfully with the conventional patterns of interpretation. “This revival or the recall of forgotten things or abandoned places runs through our work.” (Manfred Kroboth on September 25, 2013 in the Hamburger Abendblatt)

Sound installations play a central role in Manfred Kroboth's work. The viewers / listeners can be involved, e.g. B. by using a joystick to activate voiced sounds of the artist's voice.

Other important points of reference in Manfred Kroboth's work as well as in the “Kroko” project are the artist's studio and studio situations. The studio is partially outsourced to the exhibition in detail or as photographic documentation, or the artists present themselves in their studio. “We are both primarily studio rooms.” (Manfred Kroboth) The series “turned off” addresses the precarious material situation of many artists. Kroboth and Konjer had apparently set up their homes on rubble plots or with bulky rubbish furniture set down on fallow land and documented these stagings with photographs.
