Manfred Müller (born February 27, 1943 in Berlin-Weißensee ) is a German trade unionist and politician. From 1994 to 2002 he was an independent member of the German Bundestag and a member of the PDS parliamentary group .

The former Berlin state chairman of the trade union trade, banks and insurance companies was parliamentary managing director of the PDS group in the German Bundestag in the 13th electoral term, and European policy spokesman during the 14th electoral term.

His candidacy for the PDS caused a sensation, as it was the first time that a high-ranking West German trade union official took on an important political mandate for the PDS. At the same time he was controversial within the party because of his critical attitude towards the GDR .

In 1994 and 1998 he was elected as a direct candidate for the constituency of Hohenschönhausen-Pankow-Weißensee with a majority of the first votes . This was particularly important in 1994, as the PDS only moved into the Bundestag thanks to the acquisition of four direct mandates . The federal election law stipulates that a party that gets less than 5% of the second vote but wins three direct mandates moves into the Bundestag as a group.
