Manfred Röhrig (born July 27, 1938 in Cologne ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Röhrig grew up in the Cologne district of Klettenberg and played in his youth for the Cologne BC 01 , after the merger of the club with SpVgg Sülz 07 to form 1. FC Cologne in 1948, he played in its youth teams. From 1956, Röhrig , who was mostly called up as a defender or center runner, played for the Cologne amateur team, in 1957 he became a contract player and in November 1958 came in a 2-2 draw in the league home game against Alemannia Aachen , in which he was with the outside runners Herbert Dörner and Günter Mühlenbock had formed the runner row for his only competitive appearance in the club's first team. In 1959 he went back to the amateur team, for which he was a regular player until 1963, before finally ending his footballing career after winning the Middle Rhine Championship in 1965 and then working as a department manager at the Kaufhof department store chain .

Röhrig's father Manfred was a lawyer and was a member of the board of directors of 1. FC Kön from 1951 to 1967. There is no relationship with the long-time Cologne player Josef Röhrig .
