Manfred Rissmann

Manfred Rißmann (born October 5, 1939 in Hüttenrode ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Rißmann attended elementary school in Hüttenrode and secondary school in Blankenburg (Harz) and, after graduating from high school, studied medicine in Rostock . After passing the state examination, a specialist training followed in Wismar . In 1969 he became a specialist in paediatrics and received his doctorate, from 1970 to 1990 he was a specialist in the district hospital in Rostock. In 1986 he became senior physician and head of the neonatology department at the Rostock-Süd women's and children's clinic. In addition, the title of sub-specialist in neonatology was recognized, and in 1997 a habilitation followed with a topic on the intensive monitoring of new and premature babies.

Rißmann became a member of the SPD in 1989. He was a member of the Rostock district board and the state board, later on the Rostock board, and also a member of the Association of Pediatricians in Germany. From 1990 to 2002 he was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament , where he was the first vice-president of the state parliament in the second electoral term and deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the third electoral term.
