Manfred Weber (economist)

Manfred Weber (born December 18, 1950 in Altenkofen ) is a German financial scientist and was executive director of the Association of German Banks until September 2010 .

After receiving his diploma in economics in 1975, Weber was a research assistant at the University of Frankfurt am Main, where he received his doctorate in 1981 with a thesis on key assignments. He then worked for the Deutsche Bundesbank , initially in the economics department and from 1986 as the office manager of the Bundesbank Vice President. In 1991 he moved to Basel to work in the currency and economic department of the Bank for International Settlements . In 1992 he became managing director of the Association of German Banks, and since 1997 a member of the board. In March 2010 he announced his early resignation.

2004, ordered him University of Potsdam for honorary professor at its Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.
