Manfrotto
Manfrotto is a manufacturer of photo and video accessories based in Cassola , Italy . The company was taken over in 1989 by the British Vitec Group .
history
The Italian photojournalist Lino Manfrotto began developing light holders and telescopic stands in the late 1960s. In 1972 Manfrotto and Gilberto Battocchio met, at that time a worker in a Bassaner metalworking company. In 1974 the company presented its first tripod. After a large increase, Manfrotto already had six production plants, and another five were added in the Feltre industrial area in Villapaiera .
Vitec also acquired the French company Gitzo (1992) and the American company Bogen (1993). Vitec decided against merging the brands so that all three continue to exist today. In the USA the Manfrotto products are sold under the name Bogen / Manfrotto .
Products
Today Manfrotto mainly sells tripods and monopods, as well as accessory packages and light stands for film and photographers. In 2005 the Israeli manufacturer of photo bags and backpacks Kata was taken over, these are sold under the name Manfrotto Pro Light. Manfrotto also manufactures numerous tripod heads, including 3-way pan heads , gear heads and ball heads .
