Manlio Simonetti

Manlio Simonetti (born May 2, 1926 in Rome ; † November 2, 2017 ibid) was an Italian patristic .

Life

Manilo Simonetti studied classical humanities ( lettere classiche ) at the University of La Sapienza and graduated in 1947. In 1959 he received a professorship in Christian literature at the University of Cagliari . In 1969 he followed a call as professor of church history at the University of La Sapienza. Simonetti became a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in 1977 . In 2001 he retired.

In 2011 he received the "Joseph Ratzinger Foundation - Pope Benedict XVI." awarded the Joseph Ratzinger Prize in the discipline of patristics .
