Biblical report
Manoach is reported in the Book of Judges (chapters 13-16). He is a Danite and lived in a village called Zora . He was married, but his wife was sterile and could not have children. Manoach's wife came home one day distraught and reported that an angel had appeared to her and prophesied the birth of a son. Manoach, who could not believe this, ran out into the field and found the stranger who confirmed this to him. Then Manoach and his wife sacrificed for YHWH . When the flame went up, the angel went into the fire and disappeared ( Ri 13,20 EU ). Now Manoach believed in the Lord's miracle. A few months later, Samson was born.
Samson's father is mentioned again when he accompanies him to his future wife in Timna in order to arrange a marriage ( Ri 14.5 EU and Ri 14.10 EU ).
After Samson's death, he was buried in his father's grave between Zora and Eschtaol ( Ri 16.31 EU ). This is the last mention of Manoach in the Bible.
