Mansfield Hollow State Park is a state park in the US state of Connecticut in the area of ​​the community of Mansfield . The park sits on 251 acres of leased land on the west bank of Mansfield Hollow Lake (200 hectares). The area is one of the 930 hectares that the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has leased from the US Army Corps of Engineers to promote recreational opportunities and nature conservation.

Mansfield Hollow Lake is a reservoir that was created in 1952, just before the park was established, to provide water regulation at Quinebaug , Shetucket and Thames . The reservoir is located in the Turnip Meadows at the confluence of the Fenton River , Mount Hope River and Natchaug River . Geologically speaking, it is an area with many landforms created by the last Ice Age: Kamen , Eskers and Kettles . Recreational opportunities include fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. The southeast branch of the Nipmuck Trail runs through the park.

The area used to be the home area of ​​the Nipmuck .
