Tolland County is a county in the state of Connecticut in the United States with 136,364 residents. The county's largest city is Vernon . The traditional county seat is Tolland , but in Connecticut all administrative functions have been transferred to the municipalities.

The county covers an area of 1,080 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Hartford County , New London Counties , Windham Counties , and Hampden Counties and Worcester Counties , Massachusetts.

According to the 2000 census , the county had 136,364 people. There were 49,431 households and 34,156 families. The population density was 128 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.34 percent white, 2.72 percent African American, 0.21 percent Native American, 2.27 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 1.08 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 2.84 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 49,431 households, 33.3 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 58.0 percent were married couples living together, 8.0 percent were single mothers. 30.9 percent were not families. 23.5 percent were single households and 7.7 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.03.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.1 percent of residents under the age of 18, 12.9 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.7 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 23.2 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 10.2 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 100.6 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 99.5 males.
