Mansudae Congress Hall
The Mansudae Congress Hall is the parliament building of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea . It is located in the capital Pyongyang on Mansu Hill on Mansudae Street in the Chung-guyŏk district and is primarily used for meetings of the Supreme People's Assembly and diplomatic meetings.
Structure and equipment
The building was completed in October 1984 as a neoclassical monumental structure and extends over an area of 45,000 square meters . In the plenary hall there are 2000 seats on an area of 4300 square meters. In addition, the house has a total of around 200 rooms, including several conference rooms, a ballroom and various rest and reception rooms. The in-house interpreting system makes it possible to work with a language regime of up to ten languages simultaneously.
The interiors are partly furnished with marble and granite and decorated with large wall paintings.
Historical events
A declaration of peace was signed on October 4, 2007 in the Mansudae Congress Hall at a historic summit between North and South Korea .
On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the former power holder Kim Il-sung , the consultative conference of the senior members of the International Preparatory Committee met in the Congress Hall.
On July 1, 2011, an executive plan for a cultural agreement for the years 2011 to 2013 was signed between North Korea and the Philippines .
