Manuals Tipografico

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Manuale Tipografico (German manual of typography ) is a typeface sample book of 600 pages in two volumes compiled by Giambattista Bodoni in Parma . It contains all the fonts , ornaments and characters that he designed as a printer and publisher in the course of his many years of activity and made as metal type. In addition to Bodoni's Antiqua and cursive fonts, it contains all the characters in the world known to him .

The work was published posthumously in 1818 , five years after Bodoni's death, by his widow Margherita Dall'Aglio Bodoni in an edition of only 250 copies. It is said that his widow only kept the print shop in operation for printing his font samples.

Images of the pages of this work are now also available in digitized form.
