Manuel Álvarez (* 1800 ; † August 26, 1857 ) a Mexican general and in 1857 the first president of the Mexican state of Colima . For this reason, the city of Villa de Álvarez was named after him.

His great-granddaughter was the Mexican writer and politician Griselda Álvarez . His grandson Miguel Álvarez García was also a politician in Colima .
