Manuel Díaz Ramírez

Manuel Díaz Ramírez (born November 26, 1888 - February 21, 1962 ) was a Mexican politician and historian .

Díaz Ramírez was already active in the Mexican labor movement in his early youth. Between 1907 and 1919 he lived in the USA , Cuba and other countries in Central America. In 1919 he was one of the founders of the Mexican Communist Party ( Spanish Partido Comunista Mexicano , PCM) and the Communist Youth Association ( Spanish Federación de Jóvenes Comunistas , FJC). He was General Secretary of the PCM from 1921 to 1922. In 1921 he also took part in the III. World Congress of the Comintern in Moscow , where he met Lenin . Since the early 1930s, Díaz Ramírez devoted himself intensively to the history of the Mexican labor movement. His main work Apuntes históricos del movimiento obrero y campesino de México, 1844-1880 (Historical Notes on the Workers 'and Peasants' Movement in Mexico 1844-1880) was first published in 1938 in Mexico City .
