Manuel Domingos Vicente (born May 15, 1956 in Luanda , Angola ) was President of the Board of Directors for a long time and thus chief executive of the Angolan state oil company Sonangol . He has a degree in electrical engineering , specializing in mechanics , from the Universidade Agostinho Neto in Luanda. Based on the results of the 2012 elections to the National Assembly of Angola , he has been Angola's Vice President since September 2012.

Life

In his previous professional life from 1981 to 1987 he held responsible positions as chief engineer of a project department and as head of the technical department of the then Ministry of Energy and Petroleum from 1987 to 1991, before becoming Deputy General Director of Sonangol UEE in 1991 was called.

By a resolution of the Angolan Council of Ministers, Manuel Vicente was appointed President of the Board of Directors of Sonangol in August 1999, based in Luanda. On August 20, 2002, his mandate was extended for a further three years by decree by the Council of Ministers.

He sits on the board of directors of Galp Energia and has been a member of the supervisory board of the Portuguese energy company since January 15, 2008 .

On September 2, 2011, the Angolan weekly Novo Jornal , which referred to MPLA- related circles, reported that Angola's President José Eduardo dos Santos had chosen Manuel Domingos Vicente as his successor.

In early 2012 Vicente was appointed Minister for Economic Coordination. Behind José Eduardo dos Santos, he was number 2 on the MPLA's list of candidates for the August 2012 elections. Due to the 2012 constitution, the two top candidates of the party that won the most votes automatically become President and Vice-President respectively. The two top candidates were José Eduardo dos Santos and Manuel Domingos Vicente. Since the MPLA won the election again, Manuel Domingos Vicente has been Vice President of Angola since September 2012.

Manuel Vicente's financial activities in Portugal have been under surveillance by the public prosecutor since November 2012. It is believed that Vicente made investments with two other senior Angolan government officials through mailbox companies. This includes the purchase of 24% of the shares in a large Portuguese private bank in Angola.
