Manuel Gómez Acebo y de Igartua

Manuel Gómez-Acebo y de Igartua († August 31, 2009 ) was a Spanish diplomat .

Manuel Gómez Acebo y de Igartua's diplomatic career began in Morocco, then he was entrusted with trade affairs in Rome .

In the Foreign Ministry he was entrusted with aerospace tasks.

As a sub-department head, he was responsible for the Middle and Far East. He accompanied Foreign Minister Gregorio López Bravo to the beginning of the second term of office of Ferdinand Marcos at the end of 1969. On the way there they made stops in Brussels, Moscow and Tashkent , which was supposedly the first bilateral, political visit of fascist Spain to the Soviet Union .

From 1975 to 1976 Gómez was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s . During the transition to Spain , in July 1976, he was appointed ambassador to Ecuador , where he was chairman of the Institutos Ecuatoriano de Cultura Hispánica .

On June 5, 1981, he was appointed Spanish ambassador to the GDR . In recent years he has devoted himself to the Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles .
