Manuel Pagès i Mercader

Manuel Pagès i Mercader (* 1883 in Barcelona ; † 1968 ) was a Catalan nationalist politician in Spain .

Life

In 1906 Pagès i Mercader militarized himself in the Joventut Autonomista de Barcelona. In 1907 he was one of the founders of the Associació Nacionalista Catalana ( Nationalist Association of Catalonia ), the line of Domènec Martí i Julià , which joined the radical parts of the Unió Catalanista ( Catalan Association ). Pagès i Mercader traveled to Cuba and Mexico where he met other radical nationalist groups. He was one of the founders of the Catalan party Estat Català , whose combat groups he organized and in whose newspaper department L'Estat Català he participated. Then he turned to the Nosaltres Sols group! ( We alone! ) To, one of the first armed fighting groups in the 20th century. Pagès i Mercader traveled to Sardinia and wrote two books there, including one about Alghero .
