Manuel Romero Rubio

Manuel Romero Rubio (born March 7, 1828 in Mexico City , † October 21, 1895 ibid) was a Mexican politician .

Under President Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada, he briefly held the office of Secretario de Relaciones Exteriores in 1876 . His successor Porfirio Díaz , husband of his daughter Carmen Romero Rubio , made him Secretario de Gobernación in 1884 .

Romero Rubio was considered the most prominent member of the Científicos (Scientists), a group of advisers to President Díaz that included Francisco Bulnes , Luis Terrazas , Justo Sierra , José Yves Limantour and Gabino Barreda .
