Manuel Zapata Olivella (born March 17, 1920 in Santa Cruz de Lorica , Colombia , † November 19, 2004 in Bogotá ) was a Colombian writer.

Zapata Olivella worked as a doctor. As a writer, he has published short stories, novels and dramas.

anecdote

On a regional flight from Barranquilla to Corozal , on 29 May 1982 was in the Manuel Zapata Olivella, that's aircraft shortly after takeoff with a fighter aircraft of the Colombian Air Force collided. The Tavina pilots managed to ditch on the Laguna de Malambo ( Malambo Lake ). None of the seven occupants on board was injured. Manuell Zapata Olivella was rescued by fishermen along with the other occupants of the aircraft. The military plane landed at Barranquilla airport.
