Manuel da Fonseca

Manuel da Fonseca (born October 15, 1911 in Santiago do Cacém , † March 11, 1993 in Lisbon ; actually Manuel Lopes Fonseca ) was a Portuguese writer who, along with Carlos de Oliveira, is considered one of the greats of neorealism in Portuguese literature .

Life

Fonseca was born in 1911. He attended a school in Lisbon. His first work was a volume of short stories in 1942, his most important work Saat des Windes was banned by the Salazar dictatorship in 1958. He is also considered a great chronicler and narrator of the Alentejo. Manuel da Fonseca died in Lisbon in 1993.
