Manuel de Anchorena

Manuel de Anchorena (born June 3, 1933 in Buenos Aires , † May 24, 2005 in La Corona, en Villanueva, partido de Chascomús) was an Argentine diplomat .

Life

He married Elvira Martínez Peralta, their children were Elvira, Gregory, Joseph (†), Juan and Soledad, as well as the grandchildren Manuel, Ignacio and Maria. He was appointed ambassador to London by Juan Peron on November 20, 1973 , where he served from May 1974 to March 1976. In October 1975 he was called by the government of Isabel Martínez de Perón for consultations in Buenos Aires. During his stay there, the generals around Jorge Rafael Videla carried out a coup . Anchorena was allowed to return to London and buy back his property. In London the Chargé d'Affaires took his diplomatic passport away. He was neither allowed to present his letter of recall to Elisabeth II nor to request a customary private farewell audience with the sovereign.
