Manuela Rebelo

Manuela Rebelo (born December 30, 1966 in Lourenço Marques , Portuguese East Africa ) is a Mozambican lawyer and politician (FRELIMO).

Life

Youth and education

Manuela Rebelo was born on December 30, 1966 in Lourenço Marques, the capital of the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. She first attended the primary school Escola Primária de Bagamoyo (until 1977), then the first level of the secondary school Escola Secundária de Matola (until 1979) and then she completed basic technical training at the Escola Industrial de Matola (until 1982).

She later completed a law degree at the Maputo Instituto Superior Politécnico e Universitário (ISPU), from which she graduated in 2001 with a licenciatura . This was followed in 2004 with a master's degree in corporate law at the same university.

Professional background

After completing her basic training, she moved to the Ministry of Transport and Communications in 1985, where she held various positions. From 1985 to 2000 Rebelo headed the personnel department of the Mozambican Aviation School ( Escola Nacional da Aeronáutica Civil ). From 2000 to 2006 she headed the administration and finance departments of the same school. From 2006 to 2010 she was Director of Transport and Communications for Inhambane Province .

Call to the Ministry

In 2010 Armando Guebuza appointed Rebelo to his redesigned cabinet . As Deputy Minister, together with Paulo Zucula , she headed the Transport and Communication Department. After Filipe Nyusi took office as President, she continued to exercise her deputy function ( Nyusi cabinet ).

In her function as Deputy Minister of Transport, Rebelo is particularly responsible for examining (publicly) the numerous infrastructure measures in Mozambique. These include the refurbished bridges at Inhambane and Maxixe and the refurbishment of the airports in Maputo , Pemba, Vilankulos and Nacala.

Private

Rebelo is married and has five children. She is a follower of the Catholic faith . She speaks Ronga, Portuguese and English.
