María Ignacia Eguiguren (born March 9, 1992 ) is a Chilean hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .

Athletic career

María Ignacia Eguiguren gained her first experience at international championships in 2009 at the Junior South American Championships in São Paulo , where she was eliminated in the first round in the 100-meter run with 12.48 s and could not finish her preroll over 200 meters. In addition, she won the bronze medal in the Chilean 4 x 100 meter relay in 47.48 s. In 2014 she took part in the South American Games in Santiago de Chile for the first time , where she finished eighth in the hurdles in 14.37 seconds. Then she won the bronze medal at the U23 South American Championships in Montevideo in 13.93 s, as well as with the relay in 46.80 s. The following year she was sixth at the South American Championships in Lima in 14.21 s and retired from the preliminary round at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with 14.41 s. Two years later she reached fifth place at the South American Championships in Luque in 13.49 s and in 2018 she reached the final at the South American Games in Cochabamba , but did not start there for a short time. In 2019 she was unable to finish her final run at the South American Championships in Lima, but in 2020 she won the first-ever indoor South American Championships in Cochabamba with a new national record of 8.40 s in the 60-meter hurdles .

In 2018, Eguiguren became the Chilean champion in the 100 meter hurdles.
