Marc Dietel

Marc Dietel (* 1966 in Mainz ) is a German artist who now lives near Munich and works as a freelance draftsman and sculptor . After studying graphic design, he first made a name for himself as an illustrator and caricaturist and mainly painted large-format works with airbrush , focusing on people and their increasing dependence on machines and computers.

One of his best-known works was the “KRAFTFELD”, an installation made of 2500 blue ears of wheat, which dealt with the topic of exclusion and was taken up and accompanied by the German AIDS Aid and church and political associations. The “force field” could be seen in the Lukas Church in Munich, on the occasion of documenta 11 in the Markus Church in Kassel, in the atrium in Berlin and in the Hamburg Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

Starting as an academic draftsman , Marc Dietel has today developed an original drawing style that deals with both illustrative and temporary aspects of drawing and creates an exciting tightrope walk between the still representational and the non-representational. In doing so, he transfers his drawings to sculptures and sculptures, up to and including installations that are dominated by lines and structures.

The principle of unilinear drawing is a stylistic device that Marc Dietel has further developed to perfection, expressing his view of things and the world in which objectivity remains, shows possibilities, asks questions and at times makes uncomfortable political statements.
