Marc Föcking

Marc Föcking (born December 25, 1962 in Eschwege ) is a German Romance studies and literary scholar .

After graduating from high school, Föcking studied Romance languages, German and philosophy at the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck in Bonn, Munich and Milan. In 1994 he received his doctorate in Berlin with a dissertation on the religious poetry of the Italian Baroque poet Angelo Grillo , and in 1999 he completed his habilitation there in Romance Philology with a thesis on the relationship between French literature and science in the 19th century. Since 2003 Föcking has been Professor of French and Italian Literature at the University of Hamburg . The Academy of Sciences in Göttingen he belongs since 2013 as a full member.

Marc Föcking is married to Friederike Föcking and has two children with her.
