Marcel Saucier

Marcel Saucier (born November 6, 1912 in Montreal ; † November 25, 1997 ibid) was a Canadian violinist, composer and music teacher.

Saucier studied violin with Albert Devault (1919–25), Alfred De Sève (1925–28), Raphaël Kellert (1929–30), Jeanne Labrecque (1930–32), Camille Couture (1932–36) and Maurice Onderet (1936– 37). He also took piano, harmony and composition lessons from Antonio Létourneau and organ lessons from Eugène Lapierre .

Between 1933 and 1935 he gave concerts in the USA and Canada as well as with the radio station CKAC and taught at St-Guillaume College in L'Épiphanie, Que, at St-Louis College in Terrebonne and at St-Viateur High School in Montreal. From 1935 he taught exclusively in his own studio in Montreal. His students included Jean Cousineau , Roméo Galipeau , Jacques Perron and Henriette Tardif . Saucier composed songs, some of which were interpreted or recorded by singers such as Jean Lalonde and Fernand Robidoux , and a gavotte for violin and piano.
