The subway station Marcel Sembat is a station on the line 9 of the Paris Métro .
location
The station is located in the southwestern Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt . It lies lengthways under avenue Édouard Vaillant east of Place Marcel Sembat.
Surname
Place Marcel Sembat gives the station its name. The lawyer and journalist Marcel Sembat (1862–1922) was a founding member of the Socialist Party, from 1897 a member of parliament and from 1914 to 1916 a minister.
History and description
The station went into operation on February 3, 1934, when the more than 2000 m long western end section of line 9 from Porte de Saint-Cloud to Pont de Sèvres was opened.
It lies under an elliptical , white-tiled vault, the side walls of which follow the curvature of the ellipse. From the beginning it was built with a length of 105 m, sufficient for seven-car trains.
Of the three entrances, two are at the northern end of the station on both sides of Avenue Édouard Vaillant, and a third is north of Place Marcel Sembat. The latter is marked by a pole with a yellow “M” in a double circle, not far from there is an additional exit with an escalator.
vehicles
Line 9 is operated with conventional vehicles that run on steel rails. Initially, trains of the Sprague-Thomson type , which were last used there, ran. In 1983 the MF 67 series was launched . The MF 01 series has been increasingly used since October 2013, and the last MF 67 train ran on line 9 on December 14, 2016.
Remarks
- ↑ Trains run on five lines of the Paris Métro with pneumatic tires on mobile beams
- ↑ The last Sprague-Thomson train on the Métro's regular service was on line 9 on April 16, 1983
