location

The station is located in the southwestern Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt . It is located along the Avenue du Général Leclerc at the intersection of the Rue de Billancourt - Rue de la Ferme.

Surname

It is named after the Rue de Billancourt. The first mention of the village of Billancourt comes from the 12th century, its name goes back to the estate of a certain Billa. History and description

The station went into operation on February 3, 1934, when the more than 2000 m long western end section of line 9 from Porte de Saint-Cloud to Pont de Sèvres was opened.

It lies under an elliptical , white-tiled vault, the side walls of which follow the curvature of the ellipse. From the beginning it was built with a length of 105 m, sufficient for seven-car trains.

The four entrances are marked by candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the Art Deco style with the word METRO.

Line 9 is operated with conventional vehicles that run on steel rails. Initially, trains of the Sprague-Thomson type , which were last used there, ran. In 1983 the MF 67 series was launched . The MF 01 series has been increasingly used since October 2013, and the last MF 67 train ran on line 9 on December 14, 2016.
