Marcello Adriani

Marcello Adriani , also called Marcello-Virgilio Adriani or Marcellus Virgilius (* 1464 in Florence ; † November 27, 1521 ibid) was an Italian humanist and politician.

Life

As the successor and student of Angelo Poliziano and Cristoforo Landino , he was professor at the University of Florence from 1494 to 1503 (“Studio Fiorentino”). From 1498 to 1521 he was Chancellor of the Republic of Florence. He became known for his commented translation of the Pharmacopoeia by Pedanios Dioscurides .
