Marcin Zdunik

Marcin Zdunik (born December 5, 1987 ) is a Polish cellist .

Life

Marcin Zdunik graduated from the Zenon Brzewski Music School in Warsaw in 2006 , where he was taught by Professor A. Orkisz. He is currently studying music at the Fryderyk Chopin University with Professor A. Bauer. He prepares his own interpretations of pieces of music for cello and chamber orchestra [including: Maurice Ravel - Sonata in G major for cello and piano (transcription for cello from the original for violin)]. Marcin Zdunik also completed the master classes at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg as one of the best students. He is a former (2000–2006) scholarship holder of the Polish Children's Fund (a Polish foundation for gifted children), he also receives scholarships from the Polish Minister of Culture and the “Pro Arte” association.

Prizes and awards

He is a multiple winner of Polish and international competitions. Among other things, he won:

  • 1st prize in Wroclaw ,
  • 1st prize and three special prizes in the Kazimierz Wilkomirski cello competition in Poznan
  • 1st prize in Liezen (2004)
  • 3rd prize in Markneukirchen (2005)
  • the Grand Prix and the 1st prize in the 6th International Witold Lutoslawski Cello Competition. In this competition he was also awarded two special prizes for the best prelude to the Sacher Variation and Gigue for solo cello by P. Szymański and seven other prizes.

He is also the winner of the 2004 talent week at the Paderewski Center in Tarnau .
