from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Aemilius Lepidus († around 36) was a Roman politician and senator .

Lepidus was a son of Paullus Aemilius Lepidus , consul in 34 BC. His career can be followed since his consulate in the year 6 AD. Initially, Lepidus was entrusted with military tasks. In 8 AD he was appointed by Tiberius as commander in chief of the troops that were in winter camp after the Pannonia campaign. In the following year Lepidus commanded part of the troops of Tiberius. His successful work was rewarded with the ornamenta triumphalia . During this time Lepidus carried the title legatus Illyrici Inferioris . As a legate , Lepidus had been in Hispania Citerior since 14 . The duration of the legacy is not known. Perhaps he was back in Rome as early as 17, but no later than 26. In that year Lepidus became proconsul of Asia (until 28). In the year 22 he had the Basilica Aemilia restored at his own expense .

His daughter, Aemilia Lepida , was the wife of Drusus Caesar , while his son Marcus Aemilius Lepidus was married to his sister Drusilla .
