Marcus Aemilius Papus was a Roman politician living in the 2nd century AD . In an inscription, his full name is given with Marcus Cutius Marci filius Galeria Priscus Messius Rusticus Aemilius Papus Arrius Proculus Iulius Celsus .

Another inscription, which is dated 127/128, some stations of his career are known, which he had completed up to this point. He was, among other things, tribune of the Legio III Augusta (or Legio VIII Augusta ), quaestor in the province of Africa and Legatus legionis of the Legio XX Valeria Victrix .

A military diploma dated May 19, 135, shows that Papus 135 was a suffect consul with Lucius Burbuleius Optatus Ligarianus . The first inscription shows that he was governor in the province of Dalmatia afterwards .

Papus was registered in the Tribus Galeria . The name of his son, Marcus Messius Marci filius Galeria Rusticianus Aemilius Lepidus Iulius Celsus Balbinus Arrius Proculus , who was also a son-in-law of his consular colleague Ligarianus, is known through a third inscription .
