Marcus Calpurnius Seneca
Marcus Calpurnius Seneca or Marcus Calpurnius Seneca Fabius Turpio Sentinatianus (full name form Marcus Calpurnius Marci filius Galeria Seneca Fabius Turpio Sentinatianus ) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .
His full name and tribes are known through two inscriptions found in the province of Baetica ; he was registered in the Tribus Galeria . Seneca probably came from what is now Villalba del Alcor . The inscriptions also indicate that he was first Primus Pilus in the Legio I Adiutrix and then procurator of the fiscal district of Lusitania et Vettonia .
A military diploma proves that Seneca was prefect of the Roman fleet stationed in Ravenna ( classis praetoria Ravennas ); he presumably held this office from 127/129 to 132. Another diploma proves that he was Prefect of either the Ravenna fleet or the Misenum fleet . A third diploma, dated September 15, 134, proves that he was 134 prefect of the fleet stationed in Misenum ( classis praetoria Misenensis ).
