from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Nummius Umbrius Primus Senecio Albinus was a Roman politician and senator .

Albinus came from Benevento in southern Italy, where he was adopted into the Umbrii Primi family from Compsa (today Conza), who had very close ties to Benevento. Albinus was honored as civis et patronus there, probably because of his building activities in this city . His biological father, Nummius Albinus, was probably a half-brother of Didius Julianus and was sentenced to death by Septimius Severus .

Before his praetoric career, Albinus was a candidate for the emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla for the bursary (after 199). A legacy followed in the province of Asia . Around 202 he served his likely adoptive father, the proconsul of Africa , Marcus Umbrius Primus, as a legate. Around 204 he held the praetur as candidate of the emperor .

In 206 Albinus became a full consul. Between 209 and 212 he was Legate of the Province of Hispania citerior and between 212 and 217 Legate of the Province of Dalmatia . Albinus was probably still proconsul of Asia around 222. Albinus was Salius Palatinus since 191 and pontiff since 199 .

His son, Marcus Nummius Senecio Albinus , became consul in 227.
