Marcus Plautius Silvanus was a Roman politician at the beginning of the 1st century BC. Chr.

Silvanus brought in 89 BC Chr. During the Social War , together with his colleague Gaius Papirius Carbo as a tribune of the lex Plautia Papiria one. This law offered Roman citizenship to all insurgents who were resident in Italy at the time it came into force, provided they reported personally to the praetor in Rome within sixty days . The aim of the law was to bind the allies to Rome in the event of war.
