The Mare Vaporum ( Latin for "sea of vapors") is a lunar sea on the earth's moon . It has the selenographic coordinates 14 ° N 4 ° E and a mean diameter of 240 km.
It is located southwest of the Mare Serenitatis and southeast of the Mare Imbrium . The sea is limited by the Montes Apenninus ridge .
South of the Mare Vaporum at the lunar crater Ukert , the visual effect Lunar V can be observed on the lunar terminator at a moon age of around 6.7 days, shortly before reaching the first quarter of the moon .
