Marek Kopelent
Marek Kopelent (born April 28, 1932 in Prague ) is a Czech composer .
Life
Kopelent studied composition with Jaroslav Řídký at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague from 1951 to 1955 . It was based on the Second Viennese School and the European avant-garde . His compositions were performed at the Warsaw Autumn , the Donaueschinger Musiktage , the Darmstadt Summer Courses and the Witten Days for New Chamber Music . From 1965 to 1973 he was the artistic director of the Musica Viva Pragensis ensemble . In 1969 he received a scholarship from the Academy of Arts in Berlin (West). From 1976 he worked as a piano teacher in Prague. In 1989 he became the musical advisor to Václav Havel . In 1991 he was appointed professor of composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He became chairman of the Czech section of the International Society for New Music and headed Atelier 90 .
