Marek Piotrowski

Marek Piotrowski (born April 25, 1959 ) is a Polish basketball coach .

career

With his wife Mariola he left their homeland Poland and came to Oberhausen , where his wife played basketball and he worked as a basketball coach. This was followed by engagements as a coach at the gymnastics community "Zur Roten Erde" from 1848 Schwelm, where he looked after the men's team in the 2nd regional league from 1991 to 1993, for the regional league men of the BG Dorsten and the Bundesliga women of VfL Bochum, with whom he also competed in the European Cup.

In 2001 he took over the position of head coach for the women's team of the Herner TC and led the team from the regional league to the Bundesliga. The promotion to the top German league succeeded in 2007. As a climber he missed relegation with the HTC in the 2007/08 season, but remained in the Bundesliga after a decision by the DBBL clubs.

In 2011 he was relegated with the HTC from the Bundesliga and was promoted again in the following season 2011/12. In November 2012, Piotrowski submitted his resignation as Herner coach, but returned to office in February 2013. In the 2018/19 game year, he led HTC to win the first German championship title and cup victory in the club's history. Piotrowski was named the best Bundesliga coach of the 2018/19 season.
