Margaret Guest
Margaret Gast (born November 2, 1876 in Germany; † April 13, 1968 ) was an American cyclist .
Margaret Gast (actually Margareta Nagengast ) came to the United States from Bavaria at the age of 16 . From 1890 to 1910 she was one of the dominant female cyclists in the United States. In 1900 she set four long-distance records - 500, 1000, 2000 and 2500 miles. She also drove standing races , for example behind the German pacemaker Franz Hofmann . Little Dutchy later raced motorcycles and performed stunts on motorcycles.
After retiring from sport in the early 1920s, Gast learned the profession of a masseuse and practiced her profession into old age. In 1931 her studio burned out completely. She also ran The Little Dutchess Inn .
In 1993 Margaret Gast was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame .
