Margaret Osborne (table tennis player)

Margaret Osborne (* after 1914) was an English table tennis and tennis player. She took part in four table tennis world championships and won five medals.

Margaret Osborne should not be confused with the American tennis player of the same name, Margaret Osborne duPont .

Career

Margaret Osborne won a total of eight titles at the open English championships , namely in 1934 and 1935 in singles, in 1935, 1937 and 1938 with Wendy Woodhead and in 1935, 1936 and 1938 with Victor Barna .

From 1935 to 1947 she took part in four world championships . Here she became world champion with the English team in 1947 . There are also three silver medals, in 1935 in mixed with Adrian Haydon , in 1937 in doubles with Wendy Woodhead and in 1938 in team competition. At the same World Cup she won bronze in doubles with Doris Jordan .

In January 1947 Margaret Osborne married Basil Knott in Edgbaston. In the following years she took part in tennis tournaments at Wimbledon.
