Adrian Haydon
Adrian Haydon (* 1911 ; † September 12, 1973 ) was an English table tennis player who took part in a total of 17 world championships and won one gold, four silver and eight bronze medals.
Career
In addition to table tennis, the left-hander Adrian Haydon also played cricket and tennis . From 1928 to 1953 he took part in 17 table tennis world championships, where he won a total of 15 medals:
- Gold: 1953 with the team
- Silver: 1931 , 1952 with the team, 1935 in doubles with Alfred Liebster (Austria), 1948 in doubles with Ferenc Soós (Hungary)
- Bronze: 1928 , 1929 , 1933 with the team, 1929 , 1933 in singles, 1947 , 1952 , 1953 in doubles each with Victor Barna (Hungary)
For 41 years Haydon was active in a Birmingham league and only lost two games there.
In addition, he also took over official activities. He was chairman of the Birmingham Table Tennis Association for 15 years and President of Warwickshire for 15 years.
Private
Adrian Haydon's father Arthur E. Haydon (* approx. 1882; † 1953) worked as a table tennis functionary in the Birmingham district, he was co-founder and vice-president of the Birmingham Table Tennis Association, which had existed since 1922. His sister Marjorie was also an English table tennis player, as was his wife Doris Jordan, whom he married in 1938. The daughter Ann also represented England at five world championships.
