Margaret I of Dassel
Margareta I. von Dassel (born October 29, 1606 , † April 6, 1667 , buried in the chapel ) was an abbess in the Medingen monastery .
The mayor of Lüneburg , Georg II von Dassel, was her father and the Lübeck councilor Albrecht von Dassel her brother. They came from the von Dassel patrician family .
Margareta entered the monastery in 1619 . The abbot Elisabeth von Töbing made her conventual at the age of 18, i.e. 1624 . that is, from then on she lived in the Lutheran women's monastery. On April 12, 1636 she was elected abbess. At that time, that position had been vacant for five months. At that time, Duke Georg was the sovereign. There was also the Thirty Years War . Swedish horsemen drove the cattle out of the farm and plundered the monastery, which had kept some treasures in the city of Lüneburg.
The infirmary, built in 1503, collapsed in 1637. With the help of the sovereign, it was rebuilt in 1640. In 1654 the monastery was given a garden. The following year the abbess had a new organ built.
