Margarete Binder , née Margarete Mayer , married Margarete von der Klogen (born November 9, 1801 in Schleswig , † July 8, 1870 in Pillnitz ) was a German theater actress .

Life

Binder, the daughter of the ducal court actor Mayer, grew up in the theater and took the stage in 1807 as “Knabe Otto” in “Die Schuld”. She then followed her mother to Dresden and Leipzig, whereupon she was engaged in Petersburg and Reval, where she was knitted in the subject of the naive and sentimental through the heart-winning freshness and naturalness of her talent and knew how to grasp the tragic through her powerful and original feeling.

From 1816 to 1818 she worked in Weimar, then at the Hamburg City Theater.

In 1820 she married a Herr von der Klogen, followed by Sebastian Binder in 1824 .

In 1821 she became a member of the Dresden Court Theater. At the time of her engagement, she also had the opportunity to play the title role in the first performance of "Preciosa". At that time, Carl Maria von Weber , praising her deep understanding of his music, shook her hand with the words: "This is how I imagined my" Preciosa "."

In 1824 the Prague State Theater sought possession of this excellent artist. As a committed member, she entered this stage for the first time on November 10, 1824.

She stayed there until 1854 and gave her farewell performance on October 31, 1854, as she was forced to withdraw from the stage due to an eye problem.

She settled in Prague and died on July 8, 1870 on a trip to Pillnitz near Dresden.
