Margarethe Sievers
Margarethe Sievers (* 1601 ; † 1617 ) was a woman from Verden condemned as a witch .
Margarethe Sievers was suspected of being possessed by the devil due to epileptic seizures . After this incident, various rites were performed to drive out the devil . She fled from home, but was caught after a while in Lüneburg . She was subjected to the embarrassing questioning in which other women accused her of witchcraft. Finally Margarethe Sievers was sentenced to death and executed in 1617 under "milder" circumstances.
