Margarethe von Stengel

Margarete Elisabeth Freiin von Stengel (born February 10, 1898 in Munich ; † not known) was a leading member of the monarchist resistance group against National Socialism known as the Harnier Circle .

Life

The daughter of Hermann Karl Freiherr von Stengel came from the Oldenburg publishing family through her mother Elisabeth Emilie . The sculptress was a member of the resistance group against National Socialism, later known as the Harnier Circle . In 1935 she was suspected of preparing to commit high treason and arrested. a. because it kept in contact with members of the Bavarian Homeland and Royal League, which was already banned , and made it possible to meet in disguise. However, she was soon released. In 1939 almost all members of the resistance group were arrested. Margarete Elisabeth Freiin von Stengel was sentenced to several years in prison in 1944, but was released soon afterwards.
